Double Leg Hop to Jump

Instructions

  1. Stand with your feet about hip-width apart.

  2. Start with a small double-leg hop on both feet.

  3. Land softly on both feet.

  4. After the hop, perform a bigger jump upward.

  5. Land softly on both feet with your knees slightly bent.

  6. Repeat in the same pattern.

Common Compensations

  • Do not land stiff-legged.

  • Do not let your knees cave inward.

  • Do not let the small hops become too big or sloppy.

  • Do not lose control on the final jump landing.

  • Do not hold your breath.

Extra Info

  • You should feel your calves, quads, glutes, and core working.

  • You should feel quick, light hops followed by a stronger upward jump.

  • You should not feel sharp pain in the knees, ankles, hips, or back.
